Dance Our Life

  1. Though I don’t waltz you across the ballroom
Or rock the socks off your feet,
It’s quite amusing to pretend we’re living on easy-street.
Even dancing on roses in adequate doses
Could get you a thorn in your feet.
    But buying you flowers
when I’m down to some dollars
Is way better than holler and swear at the moon
    For change will come soon
    – maybe just around noon

  2. Though we don’t dance the tango or a mean fandango
    Days are seldom a bore.
You live your life like a figure skater
Slide the turns and twists with the elegance of a true creator
    Darling, it’s you I adore.
You’re shining your light of love and insight
Have patience with me when I’m blind and uptight.
I don’t have to fight or howl under moonlight
    ’Cause change is in sight
    – maybe just around midnight.

  3. Though we don’t dance the Cha-cha to La Cucaracha
    Or travel to far-off lands,
Caught up in a quickstep while doing a shuffle,
things can get out of hand.
When I’m feeling outworn, stuck in a storm, or by conflict I’m torn,
With a flick of your tongue my concerns are undone
    and gone with a yawn
    – I think change comes with dawn.

  4. Early one morning, a new day is dawning,
    Your smile dances slow-blues,
your dreams pass the latest news
Of places unseen and stories untold,
and wisdom in plenty they hold.
They are known to your eyes, can’t be seen by mine.
Your adventures in books shall be told.
They will be written at last.
    Don’t bend under this task.
Cause it might happen real fast
    – maybe even by dusk.

  5. When Jack Stone-Broke comes through the door
Doing the Boogie Woogie in the middle of the floor
It’s a good thing that you’ve got the swing
And believe that we’re taken care for.
Acquiring a taste for milk and honey
Whether we’re in or we’re out of the money
You still make our cloudy days sunny.
    Come rain or come shine
    – you’re the very best friend of mine;
And I guess we will do just fine.
So let’s rock ‘round the clock
    – or with a little luck
    – maybe until nine.

  6. And though I might not say it quite often enough,
And at times you might think I am daft:
The smile on your face is truly your lovely mind’s trace.
You’re the sunshine of my life; you’re the one that I love.
And listen to what I say:
    Any time of the day,
You are my light and my love
